Welcome to the Bolstridge one name study web site, I have registered the Bolstridge surname with the Guild Of One Name Studies as a category 'C' study , the registration details are to be found here. One of the terms of the one name registration is the restriction to five surname variations, as this is a relatively new surname there are many spellings in the earlier entries the names registered are the forms that eventually came into common usage by the 19th century see "Surname Variations". The study is very much in it's infancy and I fully intend to eventually publish all research information within these pages. The background and reason for the start of my research is discussed in the "introduction" page.

The Bolstridge surname is relatively new and apart from a burial in 1609 at Adderbury, near Banbury Oxfordshire, of one Marget Boulesdtridg the earliest records found so far are those at Bedworth near Coventry Warwickshire in 1669. In the 1980's and early 1990's Professor Norman Dudley did extensive research into the Bolstridges of Bedworth and his work can be found at the Society Of Genealogists Library where there are deposited various trees and his research notes. Norman also published a subscription volume titled "The Bolstridges Alias Bulstrode of Warwickshire" which has considerable information on the Bulstrode family of Astley and Sole End. The object of this project is to extend Norman's work and attempt to link all the Warwickshire Bolstridges, it is not proposed to research any further the Bulstrode connection at present as the Bulstrodes are well documented.

This project did not start life as a one-name-study and as such the data is mainly stored within a Family Tree Maker file. I shall eventually be making available various downloads of FTM reports along with other significant data, please visit the Research Resources page for details of what's available. The What's New page is provided to enable visitors to quickly see what has been added since their last visit.

Please browse these pages and feel free to email me about any suggestions for inclusion, I hope the will be of use.
